Enjoy a day of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim plus Grand Canyon Caverns & Route 66 with round trip deluxe motor coach transportation from Las Vegas. On your way to the South Rim, we make our first stop at the Lake Mead scenic overlook to enjoy spectacular views of this unique desert lake and landscape, created by the construction of Hoover Dam. Travel through the Mojave Desert, cross over the Hoover Dam via the famous Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, and along iconic Route 66. Today offers a dramatic scenery change as you gain 5,000 feet of elevation. Desert plants and animals change to scenery and wildlife from the Colorado Rockies, with 100 foot tall pines, giant elk and mule deer. Once you arrive in Grand Canyon National Park, you’ll have 3 hours to explore the deepest and widest part of the canyon, the South Rim. Your driver will set up the included picnic lunch which you can enjoy while taking in the views and learning about various things you can do to make the most of your time in the park. Popular attractions in the Grand Canyon National Park include El Tovar, Hopi House, Kolb Photo Studio, and the Bright Angel Trail – your guide will fill you in on all the details about what you can do and see. After departing the Grand Canyon, we will travel on historic Route 66 to the Grand Canyon Caverns, the largest dry caverns in the U.S., located 200-300 feet below the surface, and accessible via elevator. Descending 21 stories underground, the caverns offer a number of unique geological formations that can be easily viewed.
